The Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) has ranked about eight hotels in Nairobi as five star.
This is after the Authority classified over 70 hotels, with 30 of them being rated.
They include the Sarova Stanley, Tribe Hotel, Villa Rosa Kempinski, Sankara, Hemingways and Fairmont The Norfolk, Radisson Blu Hotel and Dusit D2hotels.
Those that received the four-star rating include Weston Hotel, House of Waine, Crowne Plaza, Ole Sereni, Southern Sun Mayfair, Sarova Panafric, Fairview, Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club and The Boma Hotel.
The rating was published in a gazette notice dated November 18, 2016.
Other hotels rated in the three-star category were: Panari Hotel, The Clarion Hotel, Ngong Hills Hotel, The Heron Portico, Marble Arch Hotel and Mountain Breeze Hotel.
TRA rated Jacaranda Nairobi, West Breeze, After 40 Hotels, Central Park, Fahari Gardens, Eton, and Boma Inn as two-star hotels.
TRA director general Kipkorir Lagat said the exercise was done on merit and that every hotel deserved its category.
