Jubilee supporters in North Eastern took to the streets to celebrate the unanimous decision that now paves the way for President Uhuru Kenyatta to be sworn in for a second term.
Jubilee Party supporters in Garissa, Wajir and Isiolo Counties poured into the streets, singing, dancing and waving flags after the court’s declaration.
Garissa County Governor Ali Korane together with other leaders congratulated President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Kenyatta following the court verdict.
“Congratulations to you his Excellency. The court has made its supreme ruling that the 26th October elections were free and fair and held within the confines of the Constitution and the electoral laws of our County.”
“Garissa County leadership and its people take great pride in the Jubilee development agenda and welcomes the court ruling for better Garissa, better Kenya. Justice has come to pass and let peace be,” said governor Korane on his Facebook page.
Speaking to the press, Bura MP Ali Wario said its now time for NASA leader Raila Odinga to accept the Supreme Court and join the ranks of retired president Moi, Kibaki as senior citizens.
“We are ready as the parliament to prepare a good retirement package for the former Prime Minister. But he should first agree to retire from active politics,” said MP Wario.
