Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to forget about getting any votes in North Eastern in the forthcoming August 8 general election.

The ODM MP states that North Eastern will vote for NASA's presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga and not the ruling government as being propagated by some Jubilee politicians.

Aden claims that Jubilee has abandoned the region in terms of development and that locals have no reason to endorse Uhuru’s re-election.

He said that no major development project has been initiated and launched by the national government in the region in the last four years.

Aden claimed that Jubilee only wants to use locals as a rubber stamp to their rule.

“We are telling UhuRuto and Jubilee to forget about North Eastern because locals are firmly in NASA,” Aden said as quoted by the People Daily.

The ODM lawmaker claimed that poverty, unemployment, insecurity and poor infrastructure development remains critical challenges facing the region.

Aden asked locals not to be swayed by Jubilee’s cheap promises and politics.

“If UhuRuto has not done anything for North Eastern in the five years they have been in government then it means that they don’t have the interests of the region at heart,” he said.

The MP asked locals to rally behind NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.

He said that Raila is what the region needs to achieve its development agenda.

Both NASA and Jubilee are fighting for the North Eastern votes.

National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale says that the region is a Jubilee zone and assured UhuRuto of massive votes.

Political analysts observe that North Eastern is a swing vote and is among the regions that will decide on who wins the presidential poll on August 8.
