North Eastern region is set to receive 1200 teachers as announced by CS for Education Ms. Amina Mohamed.
Speaking during the launch of student scholarship program at Laico Regency on Friday, she noted that Garissa will be receiving 1200 teachers.
The CS said together with the North Eastern region leaders they agreed to hire 1200 teachers.
“I want to assure everyone that we have agreed with the elected leaders to recruit 1200 curriculum assistants who will help boost education in the region,” noted Amina.
The teachers will be financed by the ministry of education said, Amina Mohamed, until they are factored into the countries financial budget mid next year.
The CS noted that it was time the North Eastern region produced their own teachers and by lowering the entry points for North Eastern KCSE students.
The CS lowered the entry mark in teaching colleges to D+ for students from the North Eastern region.
Other students from other counties will, however, need to attain C plain in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education to get an entry to train as a P1 teacher.
