Mosop Member of Parliament Stephen Kirwa Bitok has challenged counties in the North Rift region to seek local and foreign investments in order to boost the economy of the region.
Speaking to reporters at Eldoret Town on Thursday, the MP said the region will realise development its development potential and growth through investments.
The lawmaker further said that the region has enough resources which need to be utilised.
Bitok cited land as one of the key resource the region has.
“County governments in North Rift region must wake up and use the resources they have for development,” he said.
He said that the region is lagging behind in terms of development yet it has many underutilised resources. He also asked county governments in the region to organise forums and seminars that will market the region to investors.
“Our leaders must start to think outside the box on ways to woo investors,” he said.
The MP also challenged North Rift leaders to work together and find solutions to frequent border conflict in some counties within the region.
He said that peace will help attract investors and development partners in the region.
