Farmers in the North Rift region want the national government to fund Kenya Agricultural Research and Livestock Organisation to contain fall armyworms and other pests.

The farmers led by Kipkorir Menjo, a Kenya Farmers Association official said the pests have caused more damage to crops leading to huge losses.

Menjo said if farmers are provided with enough pesticides, army warms will be fought to end for high yields to be achieved.

“Pests have cost us a lot. The government through the ministry of Agriculture should support Kalro so as we can get more pesticides to help in the fight against pesticides,” he said.

He challenged Agriculture Cs Willy Bett to move with speed and help farmers.

“If a permanent solution will not be found soon, we risk suffering food shortage because more crops will be destroyed with armyworms,” he added.
