A section of North Rift MPs is appealing to Nandi Hills lawmaker Alfred Keter to resign as the chair of Labour and Social Welfare Committee.
The legislators - Cornelly Serem (Aldai), Wilson Kogo (Chesumei), Julius Melly ((Tinderet) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret) - challenged Keter to relinquish the position as requested by Jubilee Party’s top leadership.
Mosop MP Vincent Tuwei, however, differed with his colleagues, saying Keter should not be intimidated by Jubilee leaders,
Tuwei said Keter was duly elected to head the National Assembly committee.
Keter has said he will not step down from the post, despite calls by President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president William Ruto.
MPs Keter, Silas Tiren (Moiben), David Bowen (Marakwet) and Alex Kosgey (Emgwen) had been summoned by Uhuru for allegedly defying the party's directive to resign from the committees they were elected to head.
