Supporters of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) in West Pokot on Saturday held peaceful demonstrations to dismiss deputy president William Ruto and show their unwavering support for Raila Odinga,The Sunday Standard reports.
The demonstrators who were led by West Pokot Nasa official Richard Ruto Todosa hit out at the deputy president for alleging that the region is a Jubilee stronghold and vowed to vote for NASA to the last man in the forthcoming October 17 presidential polls.
They also acccused president Uhuru Kenyatta's administration of arbitrarily arresting youth from the community in the ongoing security operations in Samburu and Baringo counties. They also decried the sidelineing of the region economically citing the stalled Muruny water project and the Kapenguria-Alale road as examples.
"We are in Nasa to stay and we shall not be shaken. We voted for Nasa more than 60 per cent but Raila's votes were stolen", Todosia claimed.
The protesters further urged president Kenyatta to stop faulting the Supreme Court for nullifying his August 8 presidential poll 'victory'.
