Two Senators from the North Rift region have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting talents among the youths.
The two, Prof. Margret Kamar (Uasin Gishu) and Samson Cherargei (Nandi) said they will work together in helping the youths get opportunities that will improve their livelihoods.
Speaking at the Moi University School of Law grounds at Annex in the outskirts of Eldoret town on Wednesday during the time-trials for athletes seeking the scholarship to study in the United States, the two Senators said the youth were among the key pillar for the country to achieve its vision 2030.
"We're determined to change the lives of our youths and we shall work not only to represent the county interests at the Senate but also get opportunities for our young people whenever they come up," noted Senator Kamar.
"As leaders in this region, we'll ensure the youth get opportunities and be able to pursue their dreams either academically or through sports," added Senator Cherargei.
Over 300 athletes turned up for the time-trials with successful ones expected to get full sponsorship to study in various institutions of higher learning in the USA while at the same time pursuing their career in athletics.
"We are considering holding such an event twice a year so that many youths as possible from this region get those sponsorships," Prof. Kamar said.
