URP and TNA officials in the North Rift have enthusiastically welcomed the formation of the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) saying it is a step in the right direction.

Addressing the media in Eldoret, the leaders described the formation of the new political outfit as "historic" after TNA and URP amalgamated into one party.

"This will enable JAP to offer a visionary, effective and purposeful leadership and guidance to the advantage of Kenyans,” said Simon Murkelda Ngeny, the North Rift TNA coordinator.

Ngeny, who spoke on behalf of the leaders, emphasised that local leaders were delighted over the move by TNA and URP to collapse into one outfit.

He stated that although TNA had representatives in North Rift, it was not felt much there.

"Notwithstanding the fact that the party had its officials in the area, they had no roles to play. However, we are now happy that the issue has now been resolved with JAP in place," asserted Ngeny, who is also TNA's vice-chairman in Nandi County.

He pointed out that TNA and URP officials in North Rift would enter into serious dialogue on how to run the new party.

Ngeny urged the JAP hierarchy to allow county officials to pick its interim representatives since only national ones were in office.

He hit out at JAP critics, describing them as myopic individuals oblivious to the fact that TNA and URP forces were in the coalition ruling the country.

Ngeny indicated that leaders in North Rift were raring to hold marathon meetings in the region to impress upon locals on the importance of joining JAP.
