Victor Ronnerberg, the Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya said on Thursday that his country has been assisting the IEBC financially to make sure that the next Tuesday General Election is credible.
Speaking in Kisumu when he paid courtesy call on Kisumu County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed, the ambassador praised the peace initiative the government is taking to ensure the country retains peace.
The Ambassador, said his government was also supporting international observers to keep an eye on the ongoing election preparations in the country.
Norway, he said, will continue giving financial support to the country in a bid to help fortify democracy but will not interfere with internal affairs of the country.
On Security, the ambassador stated that the international community was happy with the security arrangements that have been installed.
Maalim Mohammed made clear that the government had not banned demonstrations in the county but has only halted unplanned demonstrations.
“What we, as the security committee demanded is that organizers must follow the law and inform the police so that they can be provided with security to avoid circumstances where some goons hijack such instances to engage in criminality” he expressed to the ambassador.
