Kenyans are limited to buy not more than two packets of the Government of Kenya (GOK) branded maize flour (Unga).

The subsidised products are already in major supermarkets in Kenya's capital, even as Kenyans continue to raise questions, over the alleged importation of 29,900 metrics tonnes of Mexican maize, hence the subsidy.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett said 1 kilogram of Unga would from Wednesday May 17, start retailing at Sh47, 2 kilograms at Sh90, while a 90 kilograms maize sack would retail at Sh2,300.

Bett has attributed this to the just imported maize from Mexico, through South Africa.

However, in Nairobi supermarkets, buyers were cautioned against buying 'excess', despite them having hopes that they would purchase as much as they could, after they had experienced high maize flour prices.

Major supermarkets in the city such as Naivas, Tuskys and Nakumatt (Unga arrived late) had pinned stickers, reading, "Not More Than 2 Packets Please''.

In residential estates, the subsidised Unga had not arrived by the end of Wednesday, but at KassMatt in Githurai, the product was available, but limited as well.

Below are some of the reactions from Kenyans on Twitter, over the same:
