A Nakuru court has temporarily stopped the burial of a Nakuru tycoon after there emerged disagreement among his three wives over the funeral process.
Resident Magistrate W. Kitur issued orders on Friday to stop Eng Eliakian Washington Olweny's burial until the case is heard and determined.
“The court orders that the burial arrangements and the actual burial of the deceased be put to hold and the body preserved pending hearing and determination of the matter,” said the magistrate as quoted by the Nation.
Widows Norah Olweny and Annah Wanjiru had on Tuesday gone to court seeking an injunction to stop their husband's burial after they complained that another injunction earlier issued by resident magistrate Faith Munyi had been ignored.
The duo accused Phelesia Olweny, Olweny's first wife, of sidelining them during the burial arrangements.
They also sued Phelesia's sons Timothy and Edwin Olweny over conspiring with their mother to secretly bury their late husband.
Eng Eliakian Olweny was the owner of Evans Sunrise Hospital in Nakuru.
