Kenya Films Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua has issued disparaging remarks that may be interpreted as a personal attack against the newly crowned Miss Langa’ta Prison Ruth Kamande.
The outspoken CEO says he is not amused by the fact Ms Kamande has instantly turned to a celebrity after winning the prison beauty pageant.
Kamande is behind bars after stabbing her boyfriend Farid Ahmed and has become an instant online sensation just hours after pictures of her made their way to the social media.
“I know and understand people can reform and indeed our prisons are meant to reform dangerous criminals to become better citizens. But for someone who brutally murdered just a year ago, I think there is absolutely nothing very beautiful about her. Not even so soon,” Mutua wrote on Facebook.
“The dead person was a human being, and in fact someone’s son. Just a year down the line the killer is a celebrity under the banner 'Beauty behind bars’. This a bit disturbing,” Mutua added.
He argued that the media houses were also wrong in giving the lady unlimited publicity without giving due consideration to the victim’s family.
