Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has dismissed the transformation of the NASA coalition into the National Resistance Movement.

On Wednesday, during a political rally at Uhuru Park, the Opposition leader Raila Odinga announced the change, calling for supporters to stand up against the 'dictatorial' Jubilee regime.

But speaking after casting his vote at Nanyuki Primary School in Laikipia County, Kiunjuri termed the reform as 'empty threats'.

"The same characteristics of their former parties ODM and CORD are the same. We expect even in National Resistance Movement nothing will change," he said.

The CS added: "They should be allowed to enjoy themselves for two or three weeks because not much will change."

Kiunjuri termed Thursday's repeat election as a success, regretting that some Kenyans were denied their democratic right to vote due to violence in Opposition strongholds.

"No one would expect that people would turn up in such large numbers. It is clear that Kenyans love their country and they should not continue being misled," he said as quoted by The Standard.
