A notorious chang’aa brewer was on Wednesday arrested in Masaba North on Wednesday with over 100 liters of illicit brew.
According to the area police boss James Musyimi, the chang’aa brewer had packed the illicit liquor ready to transport it to the neighboring Kericho County.
Musyimi lauded security officers for acting immediately after they were tipped off by the members of the public.
“Police officers with the help of members of the public are doing a good job.
"The chang’aa dealer was ambushed in his house where he had packed the liquor ready to transport it by his motorbike to Kericho County to get a market,” he said.
He added that the suspect is currently being held at Nyamira police station and will be arraigned in court later today.
“The suspect will be arraigned in court anytime on Thursday where he will be charged for engaging in dubious business. Those doing such businesses in the dark should drop before we catchup with them,” he noted.
He regretted that some locals are not adhering to the government’s rules and laws despite the hefty fines illicit brew dealers are paying in courts.
