President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that the National Police Service(NPS) will undergo continued modernization so as to improve its service delivery to citizens.

Speaking during the conclusion of a two-day Inspector General of Police summit held at Kenya School of Government in Nairobi,the head of State said that the service will undergo several reforms including New Standing Orders and career progression guidelines.

He said that the new reforms are meant to equip the police with all necessary knowledge so as to ensure the property and lives of the people are protected.

"The program will ensure that the police is able to curb the challenges it faces today and in future.This is my commitment during the Second term in office,"said the President.

Additionally,the government will continue to equip the service with modern equipment to enable them tackle unforeseen political events,modern criminals and beef up security to the citizens.

The President said that so far,the government has achieved greatly in improving the NPS whereby the number of vehicles have been doubled in the last five years from 3,155 in 2013 to current 6,140.
