The National Police Service (NPS) in collaboration with the office of the Inspector General is set to put up counseling centers for police officers in all the 47 counties as one of the ways to manage trauma-related cases among the officers. The move by the service is aimed at providing psychological counseling services to field offices.

It also aims to provide good working conditions for the police officers. The head of medical services at the police service Dr. John Kibosia said on Thursday that police officers face a lot of psychological torture and experience in their line of duty and there is the need to introduce counseling services to them.

Dr. Kibosia was speaking during a counseling session in Nakuru. The session saw more than 150 officers from Nakuru County narrate the traumas they have faced while in the field and appropriate measures to be taken by the police service. A number of the officers confirmed they were suffering from trauma-related behavior changes.
