The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has reacted to the appointment of former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae as judge of the East African Court of Justice.
Nyachae was nominated to the post by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday.
According to State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, Nyachae will be sworn in at the East African Community presidential summit in Kampala.
Taking to social media, NRM described Nyachae's appointment as a great joke.
The movement which was recently outlawed by the government and its general Miguna Miguna deported to Canada, further hit out at Chief Juatice David Maraga saying he has become a friend of the state.
"Charles Nyachae being appointed to the East African Court of Justice is the greatest joke," NRM tweeted, Friday.
"So Maraga has become a friend of state. Explains why court orders were ignored and he kept quiet until there was an uproar. It is his prerogative to forward a name to President. Nyachae ?!!" the movement added.
