The National Resistance Movement (NRM) now says the government failed to switch on Royal Media's Citizen Television and Inooro Television since its owner, S.K Macharia declined to play by its rules.
On Monday, the government switched on KTN News, and NTV, leaving Citizen TV and Inooro TV after they were shut down on Tuesday, January 30, for airing the controversial swearing-in of the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga.
The TVs were switched on hours after Activist Okiya Omtatah filed contempt proceedings in court against Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, his ICT counterpart Joe Mucheru and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) board on Monday, for failure to comply with a court order that required them to restore the stations.
Shortly after the switch on, NRM took to social media saying: "So Citizen TV is not back on because it belongs to an INDEPENDENT MINDED Kenyan who refused to tow the TRIBAL LINE. Nation is for Aga Khan (who surrendered his home to Snr Kenyatta, now Uhuru's home; KTN News belongs to Moi). Kweli this is a club."
