The Director general of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Francis Meja has broken his silence after a spiral of road accidents across the country.
Meja has pointed an accusing finger to the passengers and motorists for failing to observe road safety rules leading to escalation of road carnage.
"We blame the passengers who shy away from confronting the motorists who overspeed on our roads. They don't report on excess passengers in the vehicles and reckless driving which has deprived us our loved ones," said Meja.
He further blamed the motorists for giving bribes to traffic police to allow them drive without licenses and proper qualifications.
"Many of the drivers in our roads are having unroadworthy vehicles, others have no license while others drive at the wrong hours making us lose many lives," added the director General
According to NTSA sttistics, there have been a 25% increase in road accidents this year compared to last years total accidents.
Six campus students died last Friday along Kirgoris Road and four others along Denderu Road.
