[Photo/the-star.co.ke]The National Transport and Safety Authority boss Francis Mejja has lashed out at the judiciary for making the war on rogue driving in Kenya even more difficult.Speaking on Cheche, a local show aired by Citizen Tv, Mr. Mejja made the revelation that the instant fines that were introduced last year are no longer in operation following a ruling by a judge who suspended them.''We wanted to address the problem of drivers giving police bribes by introducing instant fines but some people went to court and a judge gave orders to stop the implementation of that and it has now been one year,'' Mejja said.Mejja's words come in the wake of public anger over tens of deaths caused by grisly road crashes. The bewildering frequency of road crashes has put the transport authority on the spot with many Kenyans feeling that it has failed spectacularly to prevent road crashes.
