[Photo| Courtesy]The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has strongly defended itself following reports that its officers had unlawfully allowed a killer bus to pass only for it to crash few metres away.NTSA was responding to reports following the Tuesday evening accident at Matuu in Machakos County, where five people were feared dead.34 others were seriously wounded during the Boxing Day accident after the Githurai Sacco matatu they were travelling in overturned on along Mwingi-Nairobi highway near Matuu town.The Nairobi bound bus was travelling from Kitui when the driver lost control according to Yatta OCPD Kipsang Changach.The injured were taken to Matuu Level Four Hospital for medication.Eyewitnesses said the driver of the overloaded vehicle was speeding after he had allegedly bribed the NTSA officers.However, NTSA released the below statement about the same, Wednesday.
