The officers were approved by the Interior ministry and will report to NTSA.

The officers will work under NTSA to strengthen operations on the roads countrywide.

According to the cabinet secretary for transport, James Macharia, Thika superhighway is one of the major roads where law should be reinforced since PSVs tend to be ignorant when it comes to traffic rules and the police officers will help catch those who will not adhere to NTSA rules.

“Matatu operators without licenses should be dealt with accordingly. Over speeding vehicles and those without stickers will also face the law,’’ said Mejja.

He also said that new technology will reduce road accidents as road users who will not cooperate will be arrested.
