The National Transport Service Authority (NTSA) is set to partner with City County authorities in dispatching alcoblow tests outside drinking joints in Nairobi in a move aimed at curbing drunk-driving.
Speaking to the media on Monday, the county Liquor Licensing Board chairman Vincent Shimoli said NTSA will station officers outside bars to test people's alcohol levels whereby those who fail the test will be forced to use alternative transport means.
“Once you are done with drinking and you have a car, you will be tested at the entrance,” he said.
“We are also partnering with police and taxi firms to make this exercise a success. Remember, more than 85 per cent of accidents on our roads are caused by human error,” he added.
Shimoli further indicated that those who fail alcohol tests will have their cars towed to the county yard for safekeeping.
