Uasin Gishu CIPK chairman Abubakar Bini has called for the disbandment of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) with immediate effect.

He said they have failed to contain road carnage leading to hundreds of people losing their lives.

“As religious leaders, we are not happy with the rate at which accidents are happening on our roads yet NTSA is just sleeping on the job. The authority should be disbanded since it has failed in its mandate,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

“Just December alone more than fifty lives have been lost, surely what are they doing something needs to be done before things get out of hand. They should put more enforcement officers on our roads to monitor drivers going against traffic rules,” he added.

He, however, urged drivers to be careful while ferrying passengers and they should keep in mind that they are not carrying cabbages but people.

“I humbly urge you to observe traffics rules and avoid drinking while driving especially during festive season. We want everyone alive come January,” noted Bini.
