The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), has suspended operation license of Umowa Sacco.
This is after one of the public service vehicle belonging to the Sacco, involved in a road crash, killing eight people near Malili on Mombasa-Nairobi road, in Machakos County, last week.
NTSA Managing Director, Francis Meja, said majority of road carnage victims are pedestrians and passengers.
He indicated at least 941 Kenyans had lost their lives through road accident in the last four months alone.
Commuters plying Nairobi-Machakos route were on Tuesday left stranded following the suspension. Bus fares were hiked, even as schools reopen for the second term, after the few available vehicles, saw crowds at bus stops.
