According to NTSA board chairman Lee Kinyanjui, all those spotted breaking the traffic laws will be given a warning and their registration numbers kept and will be permanently expelled from the roads upon second wrongdoing.

This comes only several days after residents of Kibera estate in Nairobi called upon the authority to help regulate the over speeding characteristic common among the 'bodaboda' operators in the area.

The authority has also announced an alarming increase in road accidents having recorded roughly 5,800 accidents until June this year, an alarming increase as compared to the 1800 cases recorded until early this year

According to the authority's research, 27% of all the accidents involve public modes of transport including matatus and bodabodas.

Some of the most affected areas by road accidents in the country are Nairobi, Nakuru and Kiambu counties with Thika Super-highway, Mombasa Road and Waiyaki way recording the highest number of accidents in the capital city.

The Authority has also singled out Bodaboda operators as not careful when driving and not wearing helmets which exposes them and their passengers to big danger in case of an accident.
