The National Transport Service Authority (NTSA) is set to heighten road crackdowns in a move aimed at curbing road accidents during the festive season.
In a media briefing on Tuesday, NTSA Director General Francis Meja announced that the agency will enact strict measures to apprehend motorists breaking traffic regulations.
“We will deploy officers along all major roads to ensure road safety during this year’s Christmas festival,” he said.
Meja further noted that over speeding, poor driving skills and reduced visibility at night are some of the major causes of road accidents in the country.
“Most roads at night have few vehicles and therefore drivers tend to flout traffic regulations and in the process cause accidents,” he said.
