The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will from next week start publishing names of traffic offenders in the local dailies.
This comes following reports that motorists arrested over minor offences such as speeding, overlapping and obstruction, do not attend their court hearings.
Speaking on Monday, NTSA Road Safety Director John Muya said some motorists fail to follow up on their cases after being released on cash bail.
“We have warrants of arrest for these offenders. We will publish their names, car registration number, traffic offence and where the offence was committed,” said Muya, as quoted by the Nation.
Munya said NTSA will intensify its operations this festive season, as the holiday period is usually marred by cases of accidents.
He further cautioned motorists against drink-driving, saying offenders will not be granted cash bail as it is a gross offence.
