According to them, the government through the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has been ignoring to involve them when making changes in the sector which they said has created a big problem in the sector.

Addressing the press in Kisii town on Wednesday Nyanza region Matatu owners Chair Joseph Kangie said NTSA has done many changes in transport sector without the presence of Matatu owners.

They accused NTSA of making changes from time to time in the sector without their knowledge.

“We ask our government to involve Matatu owners when they want to make some changes in the transport sector to show transparency and accountability in the sector,” said Kangie.

“NTSA told us to buy electronic machines which passengers can use when paying their fare but those cashless machines are not working because they never involved us when they wanted to introduce such amendments,” added Kangie.

They said many of investors have bought such machines which are not working currently.
