A senior official of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has warned motorists against flouting traffic rules.

NTSA Lower Eastern Regional head Lawrence Kibaara said the increasing cases of road accidents were as a result of human error, pointing accusing finger at drivers for reckless driving and speeding.

"I'm sending a stern warning to drivers who do not observe traffic rules that they will face the music. We cannot continue losing lives due to the negligence of some drivers," he said speaking in Machakos, Tuesday.

His remarks come at a time when the country is experiencing a myriad road crashes, with the latest occurring at Kanginga, a kilometre from Mwingi Town.

The Tuesday accident left more than 20 people nursing various injuries after a bus plying the Nairobi-Mandera route crashed on one side of the road.

Kibaara said the agency will continue conducting overnight crackdown to ensure vehicles adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.

"No effort will be spared in ensuring all road users adhere to various safety regulations to reduce road accidents," the NTSA boss insisted.
