While visiting alleged victims of police brutality in Machakos, NASA leaders led by Senator James Orengo asked Kenyans to brace themselves for an earth-shaking announcement from Raila Odinga.
As tensions boil over, many Kenyans have been racking their brains for what such a grand announcement may entail.
Here are some of the options that Raila might resort to on Monday, the appointed day for his grand announcement:
Name companies that NASA supporters should boycott; As promised during his speech at Uhuru Park on the eve of the presidential election rerun, Raila may name companies associated with the Jubilee government and ask his supporters not to buy their products.
Be sworn in as president; Some NASA leaders have indicated that they may swear in Raila as president should the IEBC declare Uhuru Kenyatta president elect.
Monday could be the day to do so.
Threaten secession; Secession has been very much on the lips of the NASA rank and file.
David Ndii, an opposition strategist, described Kenya as an abusive marriage in an opinion column that unambiguously called for secession.
Though Raila Odinga has never come out clearly on the question of secession, Monday may present a welcome opportunity to threaten secession.
