[Photo | Standard]The 2017 KCSE candidates who attained the university entry mean grade of C+ and above were 70,073.This number dropped compared to 2016 where 88,929 attained university entry grades.However, those who got straight A's in this year's KCSE exams improved by one after 142 students attained the grade compared to last year's 141.There was also a drop in the number of students who got A- in this year as compared to last year. Only 2,714 candidates got A-, compared to 4,645 A- in 2016.While realising the results on Wednesday at Nairobi school, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i noted that female candidates have performed better adding that also the bulk of schools that did well were girls schools.The total number of students who sat for KCSE in 2017 were , 615,773 candidates in 9,350 centres.This was a five per cent increase from last year’s 577,253 candidates.
