Machakos nurses have dared Governor Alfred Mutua to sack them.
The nurses on Monday took the streets in protest over failure of the government to address their grievances for several weeks after signing the Collective Bargaining Agreement for better terms of service.
They're clearly unhappy with a letter from the county government in which the governor threatened to fire all of them and hire another team to offer health care services in the county.
The nurses have been put to task to explain why they should not be sent packing for failing to report to work after a court declared their strike illegal.
Led by their Kenya National Union of Nurses secretary general Halima Adan, the aggrieved nurses matched to the county offices where they sought to meet Mutua.
According to the nurses, county chief officer Jackson Nthanga, has no mandate to write a letter threatening to fire them.
"The law is clear that you cannot sack workers seconded to the county government without reference to the Public Service Commission," said Halima, as quoted by Star.
"The PSC is on record saying nurses should not be sacked and that a solution to the stalemate should be found," she added.
