Douglas Bosire, Nyamira County health minister has warned that doctors and nurses who will be found using ‘OMO’ to sterilize medical equipments will be sacked, arrested and prosecuted for risking the lives of the people.
This is after it emerged that the county hospitals has no chemicals to sterilize medical equipments especially those used in theatre.
Bosire assured that the claims are being investigated to arrest the offenders.
"The county has invested a lot of money in the health sector. We can’t allow some few individuals to taint the name of the county especially in the health department. We have enough chemicals which should be used to sterilize theatre equipments and anyone found using ‘OMO’ will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.
He called on all county health workers to maintain professionalism and ensure provision of health services in the county is done appropriately and in a professional manner.
“The County government of Nyamira has hired trained and experienced people to work at the county health centers. No quack will be tolerated and be allowed to serve the people. Anyone joking with people’s lives should be sent to jail,” said Bosire.
He challenged critics to investigate claims before going to the public to stop misleading members of the public.
