Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has blamed the national and county governments for the ongoing nurses’ strike.

The Senator said the two governments have the mandate to ensure nurses do not go on strike, but are not showing any commitment over the same.Omar, who was addressing residents during the flagging off of the first phase of relief food meant for needy families, faulted the two governments, arguing that they have not been sincere with nurses since taking over leadership. He also argued the nurses are entitled to fight for the implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).“Nurses have every right to fight for what is theirs. The government agreed to implement the CBA, why again fail to adhere to what they agreed on? Nurses too deserve better pay and working environment,” said Omar, as quoted by Baraka FM.Omar also pointed an accusing finger at governors’ for doing little to improve the health sector.“The Governors are the ones to blame for poor health services in this country, they have failed to invest in the health sector and instead spend huge sums of money in things that doesn’t help Kenyans,” he added.
