A sombre mood engulfed Mutitu dispensary in Kathiani on June 13 after a 12-year old boy who had been ignored by the two nurses working from the dispensary died.
The boy is said to have been sent by her mother to the hospital for treatment after he skipped classes complaining of body weakness and severe headache.
According an eye witness who had also gone for treatment, the boy seemed well, one of the nurses actually ignored him and kept asking other patients in.
She said that things turned awful after the boy collapsed and passed on before nurses could attend to him.
"I was shocked having never seen or encountered such before. Nurses in the dispensary ignore dirty people and according to how the deceased looked, it's a clear indication that nurses could not allow him near them for medication," said patient whose name could not be disclosed.
It was a shock to many as even after the boy was confirmed dead, his body was placed outside as nurses called Kathiani police inorder for him to be taken to mortuary.
Mbee sub-location sub-chief Peter Ndee whose office is situated in the same compound with the dispensary arrived at the scene moment before the police.
He said that nurses negligence is common in the dispensary and the matter should be looked into by relevant authorities and action taken.
The body of the deceased was picked by the officers and taken to Kathiani level four hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations kick off on the cause of his death.
