The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Secretary General Seth Panyako on Thursday said that the nurses will continue with their strike until their needs are met.
“The strike is still on, let the Ministry of Health engage us formally,” he said. “Until then, health services will continue to be paralysed in all the counties in the country." He noted.
The union’s treasurer, Agnes Munderu claimed that Heath Cabinet Secretary, Cleopa Mailu has been misleading the country by saying that the nurses have resumed work.
“As long as Mailu continues to undermine the union we will continue to strike,” said Ms. Munderu.
The nurses' strike, which commenced on June 5, has affected the provisions of health services in the country. Some counties have announced their plans to hire new nurses.
