A Nursing student at Medical Training College Thika, Dian Issa was on Sunday crowned Miss Governor's Lounge Busia queen.

Three judges including Miss Tourism Busia County Leah Otsyula, Radio Sahara Marketing Manager Christine Namaindi and Leticia Oswaga were unanimous in Issa's victory.

Cynthia Zarai was crowned first runners-up with Alexandra Nzoka emerging second runners-up. Issa received a cash award of Sh10,000. Zarai got Sh7,000 and Nzoka Sh5,000.

Last year's winner Linda Opemi was on hand to crown Issa. The event graced by the Lounge's proprietor Felix Mugabe saw the winners undergo official, traditional, creative, beach, dinner wears categories and question and answers session to carry the day.

"I am humbled to be Miss Governor's Lounge Busia 2017. The win was a pleasant surprise. I thank my competitors for giving their best shot. The win came through perseverance, commitment and having dreams to work hard, adding that she will strive to market the Governor's Lounge in social media and photo modeling. I am also going to market myself locally and internationally," she said.

Issa thanked Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for the prevailing peace in the county. "I am going to participate in Miss World and Tourism Busia so as to carry the county's flag."
