Education and talent are two different things depending on how you understand them. To some people, their talent helps them put food on the table contrary to others who totally depend on their education to provide for them.

A Kibera school has decided to embrace both talent and education basing more on talent nurturing.

Magoso Primary School is located deep inside Kibera down the railway line at Laini Saba. The school has a population of more than three hundred pupils. This is a school where talent is born and nurtured. The mixed primary school was started by Lillian Wagalla.

Unlike other schools, Magoso has every pupil struggling to better their talent. The support from their youthful and energetic teachers is overwhelming. The children here can sing gospel songs in more than ten languages.

Their active, jovial and comical teacher in charge of music, Hezekiah Ogira, says he is always challenged by the children to support their talent.

''The children are my source of inspiration. They are very creative and innovative. I am challenged as their big brother to mentor them since I am a supporter of talent,'' said Ogira.

On the other hand, the community school is supported by the residents.

''I love pupils from Magoso because they are well behaved. They also are a source of joy in this place. They sing very well and their traditional music instruments make their singing very attractive to listen to,'' said Ombati.

Ogira says they have chosen to concentrate on music alone in the Kenya schools competition because drama is quite expensive to maintain and also the pupils will not be able to concentrate in class.
