Former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae has called for the unity of Kisii clans.
Nyachae said clannism was a big threat to the unity of Kisii people and called on the residents to shun it for them to grow as a community.
"It does not matter whether one is from Nyaribari or Mugirango clan. We are all members of the Kisii community and shoul speak as one," Nyachae said as quoted by the Nation.
The former Kisii spokesperson was speaking during the burial of his friend Livingstone Atebe Marita at Matotora in Nyamira County.
The late Marita was a long-serving member of parliament for North Mogirango/ Borabu constituency and former Assistant Minister.
The 85-year-old Nyachae also left the mourners in stitches after he figuratively spoke of his aging and sickly body.
"I am not strong enough and my body is crushing on my weak legs. But despite this, I have respect for the people who strengthened the Kisii community in the entire country," the former Nyaribari Chache MP was quoted by the local daily.
Nyachae has last seen in public during the burial of his first wife Esther Nyaboke almost a year ago.
He has maintained a low profile since he retired from politics.
