Former Constitutional Implementation Commission Chair Charles Nyachae has challenged Kisii County residents to embrace peace ahead of August polls.

Nyachae, who is running for senatorial seat in Kisii , has also urged security forces to take action against inciteful politicians.

He condemned a recent incident in Kisii town where he was forced to speed off after a group of chaotic youths confronted him.

"Elections will come and go but Kenya will remain solid. It is important for politicians for maintain peace in this electioneering period," he said.

"I plead with the police to monitor our rallies across the country so that hate mongers are dealt with. We can't afford to go to war just because of elections," he added.

He was speaking on Tuesday at Nyamokenye Secondary where he accompanied Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi who was issuing development cheques to various schools.
