Former CIC Chairman Charles Nyachae and East African Legislative Assembly MP Joseph Kiangoi would lead President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaigns in the vote-rich Gusii region.
The two will serve as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively with Nyamira speaker Joash Nyamoko appointed the secretary of the team.
Others in the team include Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North), Joash Maangi (Kisii Deputy Governor) and aspiring Nyamira Governor Charles Mochama.
According to Nyamoko, the team has already sat and its first mission is to hold a series of campaigns to dispel perceptions that ODM is the most popular party in the region.
“We have met severally and our first activity will be holding a series of rallies in both Kisii and Nyamira Counties to dispel the perception that ODM is the most popular party in the region,” Nyamoko told the reporter.
“The government has done a number of projects in the region and we are optimistic that more people are now supporting the government,” added Mochama.
In 2013 polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta garnered 29 percent of votes in Nyamira and 27 in Kisii county, therefore losing to Raila Odinga who still enjoys support from the region.
