Barely a week after a team led by Kisii Senator Chris Obure and former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae agreed to forge ahead as a team to unite residents of Kisii County ahead of 2017, sharp cracks have reportedly emerged.

Mr Obure reportedly agreed with the team in attendance to challenge area governor James Ongwae with Mr Nyachae as his running mate while other members were promised top government jobs under the Jubilee government.

But a source close to the caucus now reveals that the caucus has already ‘died’ following sharp differences that emerged after.

“The caucus has already died because some members have already pulled out. Obure wants them to run on a KANU ticket while Nyachae wants them to go for a Ford People ticket. This has really caused tension and virtually everyone has pulled his way,” said the source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“Mr Joash Maangi also wants to retain his Deputy governor slot while Nyachae wants to be the coalition gubernatorial candidate. Mr Richard Onyonka is also keen to be Deputy governor and the intrigues have complicated everything,” added the source.

However, the differences have been termed as ‘minute’ by the coalition spokesperson Mr Richard Tong’i, MP Nyaribari Chache during his phone interview with the reporter.

“Yes we could be having some minute differences but they cannot amount to disintegration. Our Omogusii caucus is going places and that is a fact. Those spreading rumors of fallout are just wishful thinkers,” he told the reporter on Monday.
