Former Constitution implementation Committee chairperson Charles Nyachae has joined the rest of Kenyans in sending condolences to the family of the former President Mwai Kibaki following the death of Mama Lucy Kibaki in a London hospital last week.
Nyachae said Kenya has lost a strong lady who stood her grounds in advocating for what she believed in.
Speaking while addressing a group of youths in Keumbu area early, Nyachae described the late Mama Lucy as a woman who had issues of women and children at heart.
“We saw her in different occasions helping the less fortunate people in the society especially women and children,” he said.
The aspiring Kisii county governor urged Kenyans to embrace the character of the fallen heroine saying she was committed in promoting peace and unity in the society.
He added that Kenyans will forever remember late Mama Lucy for her development contribution to the nation.
“We saw the former first lady in the forefront in the fight against HIV/Aids, building hospitals and helping the needy in the society”, he said.
He called on area residents to continue condoling with the family of President Kibaki by signing the condolence book in various parts of the country.
Mama Lucy’s requiem mass was held today and she is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday.
