Former Constitution Implementation Commission Chairman (CIC)Chairman Charles Nyachae has asked former Cabinet Minister Professor Sam Ongeri to emulate his father Mzee Simeone Nyachae who retired from active politics ten years ago instead of courting embarrassments in the forthcoming general elections.
The younger Nyachae expressed fear that Ongeri who is like his father's immediate brother may end up in an embarrassing situation during the campaigns for Kisii senate seat which he is expected to square it out with him.
Speaking on Monday afternoon at Nyamasankwa village of Bassi Chache ward, Bobasi Constituency during the burial of the late Dorcas Matoke, the former CIC boss commended Ongeri for the contribution he had made to the Gusii community and the country, challenging him to handover the political baton to the youthful leaders from the community in the coming elections.
"I am taking this opportunity to commend Mzee Ongeri for the work he has done to this community and this great republic. It is high time he considers retiring from active politics to pave way for the youthful leaders from this community to take up the mantle from him like my father Nyachae who retired ten years ago," stated Nyachae.
The younger Nyachae clarified that, he had widely consulted his Nyaribari clansmen and they have given him the greenlight to run for the Kisii senate seat in the coming polls and it would be spoiled if Ongeri who is his clansman also decides to run for the same seat.
