This comes after a section of residents accused former CIC chairperson Charles Nyachae of allegedly personalising Gusii community by pushing for the infamous Omogusii unity.

Speaking to the reporter in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i defended Nyachae saying he had rights to contest any seat.

“Sometimes we get petty and unfocused when we taunt someone who is one of us and ready to contest in an election. The constitution gives all Kenyans equal political rights and that should not be taken away,” he said.

“Just because Charles’s father Simon Nyachae was a politician doesn’t rule him from going for an elective seat. After all, we have seen a father and son in parliament before so it’s not strange. He is a Kenyan and should not be subjected to criticism,” he added.

He backed Mr Nyachae for the senatorial job lauding his immense experience in matters law and constitutionalism.

“Nyachae is an experienced lawyer and can work well as our Senator. I pray for him always and I believe he will make it. Competition should be free and fair so let no one discriminate a certain family,” he said.
