On Tuesday, while speaking at the market the traders vowed to stop paying tax until the tax collecting officers are moved from the area.
“We will not continue paying tax because we are being harassed by the relevant officers. Traders will resume paying daily tax once the officers are moved from the market,” said Zipporah Nyaboke, a trader.
She added that traders have united to beat the tax collecting officers if they will be spotted in the market.
“We have plans to discipline the tax collectors. We are ready to give them thorough beating and police officers are advised to keep off because the county officers at times demand bribes from us,” she added.
