Nyamira county government has been challenged to organise a youth investment forum to give the youth a platform to air their needs and contribute ideas for development.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday in Nyamira town, a youth leader in Nyamira county, Benson Onkoba said the youth in Nyamira have never been involved in any county development project prompting some of them to lose faith with the county government.
They have called on Governor John Nyagarama to organise an investment forum for the youth that will open doors for the young people to get involved in county development and enable them to engage in income generating activities in association with the county.
“In our county, we have never seen our government reacting in any way by calling for a youth investment forum like other counties. We need to have such kind of forums so that youths can be involved in the development of the county and to open them up to new opportunities,” the youth leader said.
They now want the county government to always include them while initiating development projects so that they can be at a better position of developing themselves.
“Let the county government remember that we are here and let county include us in development projects,” said peter Morara, another youth who spoke to this writer in Nyamira Town.
